Justin Natividad
Lives and works in Brooklyn, NY

Brooklyn based artist Justin Natividad attended Savannah College of Art & Design where he studied painting. Exploring existential themes and common tropes in gay voyeuristic culture, Justin recontextualizes these themes back into a fine art context while focusing on memory and the male on male gaze. Through tight cropping and exaggerated scales Justin is able to draw the observer into a more intimate viewing experience. Shifting the focus through shadow, color and reflective light Justin is able to create a painting that reads like a memory, sentimental, soft, melancholic and distant. While Justin primary works with oils, he switches between wood and cotton canvases, using each to complement the scale and subject matter.
Natividad has held two solo exhibitions with VillageOneArt: Sweet Heat (2024) and Subtle Gestures (2022), his first solo show in New York City. He has also participated in the gallery’s group exhibition Tilted Visions (2022) and its presentations at VOLTA New York.
