Artist Interview Jingqi Wang

Jingqi Wang grew up in a family of diplomats, with a learning journey that spanned multiple geographies. Born in China, she led a nomadic life in Russia, Mongolia, and South Korea before eventually coming to the USA. 

Jingqi‘s work explores animal patterning, gaming designs, and the power structures behind pop cultural symbols and scenarios in late capitalism. Her paintings are uncanny, exploring the denial of narration and interrupting the audience’s act of reading through a complex relationship between surface environment and humor.
