Blooming Reflection – Swamp Rose Mallow, Lee Tal
As the New York-based multidisciplinary conceptual pop artist, Lee Tal installed a public sculpture titled “Blooming Reflection – Swamp Rose Mallow” in Manhattan’s Stuyvesant Park. This polished aluminum piece measures 28 inches in length and 68 inches in height. The park is open daily from 7 AM to 10 PM, allowing visitors ample opportunity to view the artwork.
“Blooming Reflections” is a series of five sculptures installed throughout Stuyvesant Square, celebrating native plants and the efforts of local community members to restore them to the park. The sculptures depict the silhouettes of five different flowers: Iris Versicolor, Purple Clematis, Smooth White Beardtongue, Swamp Rose Mallow, and Yellow Trout Lily. Created by artist Lee Tal, the works are crafted from polished aluminum, reflecting both the surrounding environment and the viewers themselves, emphasizing a sense of interconnectedness. While these sculptures bring beauty to the space, they also serve as an educational reminder of the ecological importance of native plant species.
