Lives and works in New York
Xianglong Li (b. 1995) earned his BFA in Illustrated Book from the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, in 2018, and his MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, New York, in 2020. He designs and re-contextualizes images, texts, and 3D-model materials drawn from pop culture, social events, and the internet. His paintings carry an ironic humor that pokes at cultural mistranslation and the discrepancies between East and West, marshalling digital collage, painting, and graphic design to expose the fractured social norms of racism and Western settler violence.
At VillageOneArt, Li’s work was presented in Embodiment (2025), and he was featured in the gallery’s four-artist conversation Art, Ego and the World (2024). He also took part in the Beijing Contemporary Art Expo Reunion in 2023.
