Our collaborative artist, James Gortner, has been featured in the annual Pop-Up Pool Party at Manhattan Park on Roosevelt Island. The luxury rental community has once again transformed its outdoor pool area into a colorful and vibrant art haven, with James Gortner’s artistic vision taking center stage this year.

Gortner, a New York City-based artist known for his innovative and sustainable approach, brings his unique perspective to art installation. This year, the themes of his work are centered around the joy of existence and sustainability, reflecting his commitment to creating art that not only captivates but also raises awareness about environmental consciousness.

One of the striking aspects of Gortner’s art is his use of reclaimed paint sourced from various places. This sustainable practice not only reduces waste but also encourages a reconsideration of our consumption habits. For this year’s pool deck design, Gortner used a diverse array of techniques, from rolling and spraying to throwing and sanding, resulting in a mesmerizing blend of colors and textures.

Gortner’s work took five days and an impressive 60 gallons of paint to complete, showcasing his dedication to his craft and his commitment to making a positive impact through art. The project not only transforms the pool area but also offers viewers a chance to experience the energy of New York City through Gortner’s intricate mosaic of ideas and forces.

The 60-foot pool at Manhattan Park provides a picturesque backdrop for Gortner’s installation, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in art while enjoying iconic views of New York City. This residential complex, spanning 8.5 acres along the Roosevelt Island waterfront, has continuously championed local artists and injected vibrant creativity into the community.
