Yu Cheng
Lives and works in Massachusetts
Yu Cheng holds an MFA in Studio Art and a post-baccalaureate certificate in Studio Art, both from Tufts University, as well as a BS in Drawing from Harbin Normal University, China. Her work has been exhibited at galleries and museums in the United States, including Alpha Gallery, the New Art Center, and the ICA–Boston. She is the recipient of an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant and a Massachusetts Cultural Council grant, and has served as an artist-in-residence at the Scattergood-Moore residency program. In 2025, she received a commendation from the Governor of Massachusetts—a citation recognizing her continued artistic excellence—and her paintings Art Studio and Girl in Red were exhibited in the Governor’s Office at the Massachusetts State House for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
Cheng’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, Waking Life (2025), presented more than thirty paintings of intimate interiors and dreamlike landscapes. Her work was also included in In the Mood For Love (2026), VillageOneArt’s annual survey of women artists.
