Dogs of Dark marks a substantive new exhibition by Xu, which probes the ambiguity between human and canine bodies, drawing on themes presented in a recent collection of visceral poems created during time spent in New York City. Referring to this body of work as inhabiting a space that is visually positioned between these elements as potentially dream states, offering a glimpse into the psychological underpinning of anthropomorphic figures within mysterious scenes.

“In the Mood for Love” features some of the most compelling women artists working across disciplines today, reflecting on a broad and informed approach to artistic practice as a means to further uncovering the mysteries surrounding us.

XiangniSong: Incidentals offers the viewer piquant and diaristic insights into the artist’s day-to-day life infused with a sense of fantasy. Drawing from an evocative color palette reminiscent of Pablo Picasso’s Blue Period, and with sublime figuration containing echoes of figuration by Alex Katz and David Hockney, Song’s works evoke both charm and mystery in equal measure.

VillageOneArt is pleased to present a group exhibition “Embodiment” on view at the gallery from December 11th, 2025, offers visitors insights into artists, both emerging and mid-career, working with bodies as an inflection point.

In the exhibit, Yu Cheng: Waking Life, guests to the gallery are transported to visions of intimate, interior spaces and landscapes in equal measure, with each painting seemingly dangling some captivating secret just out of reach of the viewer.

For this, the artist’s second solo exhibit with the gallery, the artist’s works align with literary themes presented in these powerful paintings such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez’ One Hundred Years of Solitude: the titular artwork.

VillageOneArt is pleased to present a survey show of contemporary painters with works by Elise Coker, Alexandra Collins, Eric Diehl, Claire HarnEnz, Jarvis Hua, Nikki Mehle, Song Watkins Park, and Xinzi Luo on view from August 14th. Presenting a wide range of stylistic approaches to painting in the present moment, figuration and abstraction complement each other in this captivating exhibition of painters working in the contemporary vanguard.

Illusion and desire intertwine in Eri King and Daniel Greer’s Double Infinity. The artists transcend and upend the binary in this nuanced exhibition, which features works created by the artists individually as well as made in collaboration by the artists under the moniker ‘Eridan.’

Kristian Battell: Everything is cool introduces visitors to new works by artist Kristian Battell in her first solo presentation opening June 5th at VillageOneArt. Battell’s careful attention to the undulations and interrogations of land formations against sky mirrors her meticulous use of paint against canvas, alternately flattening and contrasting medium against substrate.

Alayna Coverly: Of Sound Mind presents new paintings by the artist that hone in on the visual complexities created by bodies entangled in motion. The artist explores ambiguous scenarios with shrouded figures wrapped in decadent fabrics, foregrounding the actions rather than the identities of her subjects.

21 women artists working across global frameworks in Asia and North America feature in this third presentation of this traditional women’s group exhibition echoing themes present in Wong Kar Wai’s influential film, In the Mood for Love. This pivotal group exhibit is on view March-April 2025 at VillageOneArt.

How do we connect with nature? What observations about the world around us do we internalize and how do we find magic and wonder in our surroundings? These are just a few of the questions posed by the exhibit Frances Matassa: When The Moon Turns Green. For the artist’s second solo show with the gallery, she delves into dreamlike experiences that manifest like fever dreams across the canvas.
